I asked someone whom I met very recently “Have you muted your Notifications today?”

The usual look & the obvious question was “What is it that you are talking about? Why mute them?”

Little did the person realize that we were discussing something important & the notifications were coming continuously – Well that’s their job & they would come.

&

that’s probably not the problem but the real problem is that each time a notification arrives, you tend to look at it, even if you wouldn’t reply instantly.

THE DISTRACTION : Yes, it’s more than enough to distract you from your focus job, the rhythm breaks.

Not just at meetings but even in your daily tasks – professional or personal, these notifications have become an integral part of our lives & they are doing more harm than good.

They curtail or derail your productivity because it’s either you, who is vying for attention or the one who’s sending you, is desperate enough. Or may be if you introspect, you may find a better reason & hope it helps you realize the damage.

The Realization

Realization of & acting upon such drivers of your life is paramount. Analyse today & set your priorities right before it’s too late. SWITCH OFF / MUTE at least ONE Notification TODAY and see the difference and hopefully my Question : “Have you muted your notifications today” won’t bother you much

The Remedy

How to get over this GUILT 😉(of switching OFF): Get into a habit of practicing Mindfulness every day – to start with , practice 5 minutes after you wake up & another set of 5 minutes just before sleeping. As a result, you feel relaxed.

A Good Read
